I'm at the mercy of Peachtree. The company data is on a server
however the custom PO forms are not showing up on the workstations
with the exception of one. About six months ago this issue had
presented itself and I fixed it, but can't remember how I did it. I
remember copying the form files to each computer and then doing
somthing in Peatchtree to make it see them. It's Peachtree 2005
Complete Accounting. If anyone can offer me a complete and intuitive
solution it would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Example: I have a Sales Invoice open and go to print it. I click
change form and the list of forms does not contain my custome form.
I have the .FRM files copied to each computer in c:\Program Files
\Peachtree\Company\Forms and also to c:\Peachw. |

There isn't a \Company\[company}. I'm assuming by {company} you're
refering to my company name, but no such folder exists. The company

OK, so I have my Peachtree folder and it contains my {company} folder

Ok, the Form thing aside and I hate to get off topic, but looking
through the pcw120.ini file raises some different and slightly scary
questions.
Inside the .ini file I read "The DATAPATH is where the errorlog, the
help file, the form files, and the OPTIONS.DAT file are found. In
addition, each set of "Company Data" is located in its own
subdirectory off of this DATAPATH."
Specifically what does the statement "In addition, each set of
"Company Data" is located in its own subdirectory off of this
DATAPATH." mean? This scares me a little as I take it to mean that
portions of the Peachtree information are being held on individual
systems rather than collectivly on the server.
By the way, thank you for all your help. It's very much appreciated. |

company
information is on a server.
The forms need to be within the folder containing the company
data
whether
it be locally or on the server. You could also restore a backup
and
specify
that you want to restore custom forms only.- Hide quoted text -

OK, so I have my Peachtree folder and it contains my {company}
folder
and also a Forms folder. If I copy the custom forms from the Forms
folder into the {company} folder this will allow the custom forms
to
be used by everyone? It doesn't make a lot of sense to me, but
I'll
give it a try.- Hide quoted text -

I just went to make the copy and found that they're already in
there.
That is strange that PT is not seeing the forms. Try editing a form
and
then
click on save. What folder is PT looking to save the form in? It
should
be
the Forms folder on the server.
Have you checked the peachtree ini file pcw120.ini on each workstation
to
make sure that the datapath is pointing to the server?- Hide quoted

This file does not exist in either the c:\Peachw folder or
subdirectories or the c:\Program Files\Peachtree folder or
subdirectories.
Sorry, I should have written that this file is in the windows folder.-

When you have multiple company files such as company1, company2, company3
they would be located in their own folders:
\peachtree\company\company1\
\peachtree\company\company2\
\peachtree\company\company3\
The complete path name depends on where the "peachtree" folder is located.
In your case the ini file on each workstation should be pointing to the
server.
These "company" folders can be different businesses or different years for a
single business. Just remember, the Peachtree company "file" actually
consists of numerous files. It is not a single file like some programs use
so Peachtree needs a way of organizing the various company files..
When you install PT you are given the option to locate the data files in a
separate folder location. If you say yes, then the Company folder is created
so that it can create folders for each company file. If you do not select
this option there is no subfolder created and your data files are created in
the Company folder.
Look at the server and see what folders you see under your Peachtree folder. |

The problem is in the data path. When you install PT you must tell it the
data path is on the server. You cannot just locate and open your company
from Peachtree. I'm talking about when you go to File>Open Company. The path
that automatically appears should be the server path and all customized
forms should be saved to the Forms folder located next to your company data
folder on the server. Depending on your version of Peachtree, you may be
able to change the data path by editing the .ini file or if it's 2007 or
2008, you may have to uninstall and reinstall with the correct data path.

The data path from the "open comapny" window is correct, but the .ini
file points to the local drive on the systems. So does this mean that
Peachtree is holding company data on each system as well as the server? |
