Usually, it's August. But, with Intuit following in the footsteps of
Creative, support-wise, I won't be "upgrading" until forced with a pointed
stick.

I've been holding onto my Quicken 2002...hoping that Quicken 2009 will
FINALLY get it!!!! So many of the quirks in Quicken are just so damn simple
from a systems standpoint to fix....yet...Intuit seems stuck in the mud. I
have to wonder WTF they do in their huge building, here in Edmonton,
Alberta. Now that I lost D/L stock prices (31 December 2007) I am
considering going for Q2009 when it is eventually released. Surely it can't
be any worse than 2008??!!

Usually, late summer.

I have to wonder what useful features will be removed in Q2009....

None. In another sign of our worsening economy, they will merely
degrade and break some existing features, instead of removing them
outright.

It may seems tempting to call it extortion, but - sorry - no go.

Extortion:
1. An exorbitant charge
2. Unjust exaction (as by the misuse of authority)
"the extortion by dishonest officials of fees for performing their
sworn duty"
3. The felonious act of extorting money (as by threats of violence)

Q2009 is not being bashed, Intuit's customer-antagonistic attitude is being
criticized.

To keep the pressure on.

The bashings will continue until the product improves.

Since it's not yet out, there's nothing to like or dislike. What I do
dislike, however, is the process where Intuit stopped supporting some of its
old programs (for which the owners and users paid and used with
satisfaction) when they issued Q2008. To my way of thinking, that's little
more than commercial extortion not far removed from the kind of extortion
that society considers to be a felony.

Actually, society calls it PROGRESS.

Intuit is not motivated by TRUTH or HONESTY. Their main interest is
SURVIVAL. Not unlike the human condition.

So, you nitpicked my use of words..........but a pig by any other name is
still a pig. Incidentally, the original question invited readers to express
their opinions, which I did. My heart aches because you were unable to
accept the verbiage I chose to use. IOW, whatever YOU wish to call what I
described, I still think it sucks; you don't have to agree with me but you
do have to at least allow me to express my opinion in response to the
invitation to do so.
