I am having problems downloading quotes using Quicken 2008 Premier Release R
7. When I use one step update, I get an error message that the server was
not responding. I've tried downloading from the portfolio window and it
simply does not update. If I try several times, it sometimes will update,
but it may take 20 attempts. Any suggestions?

Well known and documented problem. Quicken has ignored it for some years,
but has finally promised a rework by August of their servers. Look in the
archives of this group, or go to Quicken's site and search there.

This is one of those statements that are true ... but very
misleading.

I, and others, have rarely had any trouble downloading quotes.
And when we fail to get current quotes in one download, we get
them not long later.

As you have said: Intuit has acknowledged a problem with their
quote downloads and predicted to fix that problem sometime
around August 2008.

In the meantime, folks should refrain from complaining - because
it will serve no purpose - and realize that they can still get
quotes ... if not exactly on their desired schedule.

I find that complaining serves a very noble purpose: it keeps me from
yelling at the dog. Quicken will just have to endure my complaints,
and my dog will be happy.

Ah yes, I had forgotten about the non-Quicken purposes: I agree
yours is noble. I complain too - to keep my cats happy - but I
do it privately when I think it will serve no public purpose.

A point I have been making for years: thanks for confirming it.
