Hello one and all. I have been the Treasurer for the past 2.5 years for my club. The prior Treasurer was an accountant and used QB. He passed away and I was voted in. I've been mucking my way through QB but now want to make sure that I'm doing it right - at least as right as a non-accountant can. Does any one have any suggestion to a good book(s) that I can get? The best book is "QuickBooks for Idiots". :-)

Once upon a time Intuit used to include a big fat manual with the boxed
product.

I'm enjoying the beach too much!

Check into the book QB for Non Profits by Kathy Ivens. It is on
amazon and doesn't cost too much.

My local community college has a course (or two) on Quickbooks. That would
be my first attack.

If that's not available, I'd at least take Bookkeeping 101 at the local
community college, followed by a couple of hours with a QB professional.

Which was my suggestion some time ago... :)

Except I'd suggest not Bookkeeping 101 but a small business
precepts/accounting class that uses QB as its tool or as Heybub
suggested, some actually teach QB itself as a distributive ed kind of
thing rather than as academic. I think either of those would be far
more appropriate to the type of larnin' you'll want over an academic
bookkeeping class (not that there's anything wrong w/ that for the CPA's
out there Smile

)....

But, go to ebay and buy a book that is a year or 2 older--you'll save
LOTS of money! Acctg/bookkeeping doesn't change much so you don't
need the most current edition of a text book.
