Hello one and all.

I have been the Treasurer for the past 2.5 years for my club. The prior
Treasurer was an accountant and used QB. He passed away and I was voted
in. I've been mucking my way through QB but now want to make sure that
I'm doing it right - at least as right as a non-accountant can.

Does any one have any suggestion to a good book(s) that I can get?

Thanks.

I suspect you will hear from one of our resident experts shortly on this
matter.

I guess the residents experts must be thinking that the other expert
will be answering my question... ;-)

Hmmm - Do I take the high road or the low road?
High road - Didn't expect to be insulted. I've re-read my last post and
I am having trouble seeing how I could have offended you, but apparently
I did. Sorry.
Low road - It must be a good book. May I borrow your copy?

I was expecting a response from QBconsultant.

Once upon a time Intuit used to include a big fat manual with the boxed
product.

Hi--sorry, I'm on vacation this week so I'm not as active in replying--
I'm enjoying the beach too much!

Check into the book QB for Non Profits by Kathy Ivens. It is on
amazon and doesn't cost too much.

My local community college has a course (or two) on Quickbooks. That would
be my first attack.

If that's not available, I'd at least take Bookkeeping 101 at the local
community college, followed by a couple of hours with a QB professional.

Thank you Haskel LaPort, QBConsultant and HeyBub.
I'm going to get the book QBConsultant suggested and do HeyBub's
suggestion of Bookkeeping 101.

Which was my suggestion some time ago... :)

Except I'd suggest not Bookkeeping 101 but a small business
precepts/accounting class that uses QB as its tool or as Heybub
suggested, some actually teach QB itself as a distributive ed kind of
thing rather than as academic. I think either of those would be far
more appropriate to the type of larnin' you'll want over an academic
bookkeeping class (not that there's anything wrong w/ that for the CPA's
out there Smile )....

good luck

Yes, a college bookstore is a great place to browse.

But, go to ebay and buy a book that is a year or 2 older--you'll save
LOTS of money! Acctg/bookkeeping doesn't change much so you don't
need the most current edition of a text book.
